Truck Mounted Equipment   There is a huge difference between a truck mounted carpet cleaning system and a portable unit. A portable unit has advantages when attempting to clean a small area, but anything much larger than a spot the advantages quickly diminish. On average, the truck mounted unit is 10 to 15 times more powerful than a portable. Larger areas will take much longer and more effort by the one doing the cleaning. Mistakes get made, and things don’t get done as well when one is tired. It makes it a lot easier to get it right when it’s easier and takes less time. The truck mount is more efficient and allows more time and energy for double checking, and going back over troubled areas. Truck mounted equipment also heats the water. The warmer the water the easier it is to clean because it breaks down the dirt and grime much better than cold water. It is much more effective to wash your hands with warm water rather than cold water. The soils in the carpet get pounded down into the fiber then it is left there for months between cleanings.  Hot water easily breaks these soils down and allows for a much more shiny clean than cold water. Vacuum power is very important in the carpet cleaning process. Anybody can spray their carpet down with a lot of water. It takes one powerful specialized piece of equipment to go through the amount of water necessary to do a quality job and still only leave the carpet damp. This will allow the carpet to come as clean as possible and still dry quickly. Very few portable units have the capability to heat water. Portable units with a pump rating of 100 p.s.i. or greater can be used to clean upholstery.
