Spots and Traffic Areas   Most of the time we clean around the larger furniture items like beds, dressers, and desks. Essentially, we usually clean the traffic areas. We will move a standard size sofa, loveseat, or chair clean behind them, put plastic under them, and move them back at no charge. We can move most items upon the customer’s request. Traffic and spots are sprayed with a mild cleaning detergent to begin breaking down the soils and spills. When the carpet is properly maintained, the protective coating should allow the soils and spills to slip right off the carpet for a shiny clean. For times when the carpet has not been properly maintained, the truck mounted steam cleaner comes in handy to get as deep of penetration as possible. Using heated water along with super vacuum power becomes a necessity when carpet has had a lot of traffic and accidents. Most of the time, these areas can be cleaned so that they are no longer visible. Large spills can be so severe they saturate the backing of the carpet or even worse the padding underneath. These worst case scenarios can come back once the carpe dries. The carpet can be very clean after the technician is finished, and the spot can be walked back up to the surface. Sometimes two or three attempts will do the trick, and sometimes it will continue to reappear. Water marks from a flood of any type is not considered the same thing as a normal cleaning of spots and traffic. It should be treated under the guidelines of water damage restoration.
