Protimeter   It is very important for the restoration team to be able to measure the moisture in materials that got wet. The protimeter is very simple to use. The meter is placed in a specific and consistent manner to insure consistency, other than that all that is needed is to push a button. It can be placed on almost any surface. There are three different signals given by this sensor. It displays a digital readout, a beeping alarm, and color coded meter. The digital readout goes from 0 to 999. The higher number indicates more moisture. The sound alert beeps faster with more moisture present. The color meter goes from red to yellow to green. Red indicates an unacceptable level of moisture. When searching for the pre-loss moisture level, measuring normal moisture levels in materials or areas that were not affected by the water intrusion usually makes a good target to measure success while drying wet materials. All wet materials are tested each day to monitor progress, and the results are documented along with water vapor conditions in a daily report. It is impossible to do most of these jobs without the aid of a reliable moisture sensor. As some surfaces are restored to their pre-loss moisture conditions, others may not be experiencing as much air flow, and therefore, not drying as quickly. When the protimeter indicates one area has been restored, the air mover in that area is moved to another location that still needs more drying.
